A year’s worth of novellas from twelve inspirational romance authors. Happily ever after guaranteed.
What will happen when novelist Madeleine Houser’s “pen pal” friendship with a lonely widower takes an unexpected turn?
Who can work in a house that's overrun by contractors and carpenters? Not Madeleine Houser, a successful novelist who gladly accepts the help of her octogenarian friend, Ginny, to arrange for a temporary office in the charming bed and breakfast owned by Ginny's friend, Arthur. Maddie’s never met the innkeeper—but a friendship grows between them as Maddie and Arthur leave messages for each other each day. To Maddie’s alternate delight and chagrin, she seems to be falling for the inn’s owner—a man who's likely many years her senior—and who she’s never even met.
Arthur Tyler is a college professor who lost his young wife to cancer. Together they ran the bed and breakfast where Art lives, but without his wife, the house is missing warmth and cheer. He jumps at the chance to have author Madeleine Houser use the space that was once filled with guests. He, too, begins to enjoy the daily exchanges with Maddie, but a series of misunderstandings lead him to believe she’s far from being a prospective date—even if he were ready to date again, which he’s not.
When Maddie and Art finally meet and discover one another’s identity, sparks fly. Even so, they each have obstacles to overcome in order for this winter romance to blossom.
“Having been the mother of the bride twice and the mother of the groom once, it’s fun planning a virtual wedding. Then again, writing A November Bride made me responsible for every aspect of the wedding, including making sure the couple made it all the way to the ‘I do’s!’” —Beth K. Vogt, author of A November Bride

A very enjoyable novella!
By Melanie
I've only read two of the novellas so far, but Zondervan's A Year of Weddings novella collection is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I loved A December Bride, which I read last month, and I also loved this novella!
A January Bride was a great read! I loved how the main character - Maddie - was an author and working with a tight deadline, so she starts writing at a bed and breakfast, since her house is undergoing a lot of renovations. It was so neat how Maddie and Art (the owner of the B&B) started writing notes to each other - I loved that! There were a lot of misconceptions in A January Bride and, as a result, this story made me laugh so much!
There are many little things about A January Bride that I really liked, but I won't mention them all. ;) One thing that happened towards the end of this novella did seem a little rushed/quickly resolved to me, but that's pretty much the only thing I didn't like.
All in all, a very enjoyable novella! I recommend it and look forward to continuing The Year of Weddings collection by reading A February Bride soon.

A Nice Addition to the A Year of Weddings Series
By Leahhhh12
Madeline Houser is a successful novelist working on a new novel. With her deadline fast approaching, she finds it hard to concentrate in a house filled with contractors and carpenters who are remodeling her house. Her elderly neighbor, Ginny, arranges for Madeline to work out of one of her friend’s homes. Thankful for Arthur Tyler’s generosity, she writes him a thank you note that starts up a correspondence between the two. Though at first there is a misunderstanding of the other’s identity, a friendship forms between the two and as their feelings grow, Arthur isn’t sure he will be able to let go of his feelings for his deceased wife and move on.
I really liked the idea of the friendship forming through a series of letters. Despite the silly misunderstanding between the two, I enjoyed the development of their relationship. I thought this was a great addition to the A Year of Weddings series.
I received a free ecopy of this book from the publisher, Zondervan, through NetGalley in an exchange for my honest review. I received no compensation for this review, nor was I required to write a positive review. All opinions stated are my own.

A sweet Romance
By HannahPilar
I didn't realize it was Christian romance when I received it from NetGalley. com
A sweet Christian romance that at times go a little too Christian but then dropped the topic for a time keeping it from getting to preachy. I'm not to in to Christian romance I am not a very religious person and don't have an appreciation for them because of it, but this one I liked. Maddie is a writer and after her big move from New York to be closer to her mother who suffers from Alzheimer's. She moved in her sister's old house and immediately started renovation, but with a January deadline she couldn't work will all the noise. Her neighbor a kindly older lady, Ginny, suggest an B&B in town owned by her friend a widower whose wife past just three years ago. Maddie loves the idea. Arthur Taylor is still grieving his wife just going through the motions of the day thinking maybe it was time to sell the B&B and move on with his life. until then he is letting the author, who was one of his wife's favorites make use of his B&B as her writing retreat. Back and forth they write little notes to each other asking advise or other just little things getting to know one another all the while they think the other is elderly. Maddie thinks of Mr. Taylor as a dabber wise older gentleman, and Art thinks Madeline is as old as Ginny. But when they finally meet face to face the attraction between them becomes more then just intellectual. Now Art feels guilty about his feeling for the stunning Maddie, guilty because he feels like he is betraying his late wife's memories. Maddies who has had her heart broken to many times before isn't willing to be in any relationship that isn't both ways and won't have her heart broken again, but she finds out it is a little too late for that. It was love at first sight and already knowing he was a kind intelligent man didn't help matters at all.
The matter of their religious beliefs plays it's own part namely with Maddie dealing with her mother and with Art dealing with his grief and guilt. It's not over played and is written in rather well just shy of being slightly annoying, but then again I'm not religious and it is just my opinion so don't mind me.
