“God, is this fair?” My wife and I asked this question after the passing of our precious daughter. The fact is, everything in life doesn’t turn out the way we expect---just ask Jennifer Rothschild, one of our favorite “LIFE Today” guests who became blind as a 15-year-old. With candor, Jennifer deals head-on with deep, probing questions many of us have asked. For those who wonder if God hears their prayers…cares…or even if God is good, this book will point you to Hope. Ultimately, “what matters most is not the questions,” Jennifer writes, “but the heart of the questioner.' -- James Robison, , Founder, LIFE Outreach International, cohost, 'LIFE Today' Television, Fort Worth, Texas

She will show you how to have unrelenting courage to plead for God's power and, at the same time, for remarkable strength to trust God's plan. This is a book I'll be recommending for years to come. -- Lysa TerKeurst, , New York Times bestselling author and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries

Answers for the hardest questions of life
By Melinda Lancaster
We all have them at one time or another. Whether they come, as unwelcome visitors, when trials or tragedy occur or as a result of watching someone else suffer---they are as common as "a cold."

Questions arise like:

God are you fair?
God do you err?
God, do you hear prayer?
God, do you care?
God, are you aware?
God, are you there?

In her latest book "God Is Just Not Fair" Jennifer Rothschild takes each of these questions apart and examines then in light of Scripture. And who better to do so then someone who has asked them all herself.

Having lost her sight as a teenager, Jennifer has navigated the world blind for her entire adult life. And she does it with grace and dignity, I might add, not to mention while maintaining a sense of humor. I've read all of her books because there is much to be gleaned from this woman's life.

This is by far the author's most candid work. It may very well be my favorite. I found myself laughing, crying, and praying as I read.

Jennifer's words provide incredible insight for those in the thralls of hardship. They also brings bountiful comfort and hope. And who doesn't need hope?

There is not a person alive who in some way won't find themselves within the pages of this book.

It is not wrong to ask questions. In fact, it is right. How we process them and where we turn to for answers is what makes all of the difference. There are only two potentials when dealing with hardship: we get bitter, or we get better. Much of that depends upon the lens through which we choose to view life.

I'm so grateful that Jennifer Rothschild has chosen to view her hardship through the lens of faith.

Even in the darkest moments while suffering deep depression, due to chronic exhaustion and other physical changes, she continued to look to the right source for her answers. With more holes in her "blanket of faith" then she could possibly patch she allowed God to fill the missing pieces.

There is so much to be learned from her experiences as well as her teaching. I find myself re-reading portions of this book over and over again.

God is just not fair. Sometimes that can be a very hard pill to swallow. Which is why you need to read this book. It is medicine for the soul...a real heart cure!

BookLook Bloggers: God is Just not Fair
By Kimmy U
My latest review is of the book by Jennifer Rothschild, God is Just Not Fair. The title in and of itself makes a bold statement and I think most people would want to read the book to see what Jennifer means about God not being fair. I have seen Jennifer Rothschild in person at a women's conference and have done a couple of her bible studies, so I definitely wanted to read this book.

For those of you that do not know Jennifer Rothschild, she has written nine books and several Bible studies. She has spoken at women's conferences (IE: Women of Faith) and is the founder of her own event, Fresh Grounded Faith. As part of her personal testimony, Jennifer often speaks and shares of her experience with going blind at the age of fifteen. Her blindness doesn't define who she is, but Jennifer has shared her journey with blindness to help others find hope in Jesus.

In this book, Jennifer tackles six big questions of faith that will encourage readers to trust God even in life's most difficult circumstances. Questions such as; God are you fair?, God, do you care?, and God. do you hear prayer?. Jennifer shares very candidly with her readers about her battle with depression and the roller coaster of emotions she has had with her blindness and prayers for healing. She lets readers into her journey as she questioned her faith and wrestled through some very tough questions with God.

Although, I believe this book is a great read for anyone to read, I especially would recommend this book to someone who is experiencing a very low point or difficult circumstance in his/her life.

I love that Jennifer asks the hard questions, and doesn't leave the readers with "pat" answers or a bunch of cliches. Jennifer goes directly to God's Word to find the answers. The answers are not always easy ones, but they are truthful ones. Jennifer exalts who God is and who we are and that makes this book one I would recommend to anyone.

* I received this book complimentary from BookLook Bloggers and I in turn agreed to write an honest review.
